Mr & Mrs Y from Leeds win £3016.36 from Charterhouse Mortgages

Mr & Mrs Y from Leeds bought their council house in 2006.

Charterhouse mortgage consultants apprached them saying that they could help them buy their house and wouldn’t have to pay a penny upfront.

Thats where the good news stops. Having completed the paperwork in the comfort of there home shortly after the council provided them with there section 125 giving them the full details of the purchase price and discount available.

The mortgage advisor then arranged to visit again to complete all the paperwork to obtain the mortgage. He went on to explain that as they were council tenants it was more difficult to get a mortgage but he was sure he could help.

Due to the extra work the fee they charged was £1995.00 and to ensure they were fully protected they added payment protection insurance to the loan without explaining to Mr & Mrs Y what is was for.

They also failed to tell them interest would be charged on the debt for the whole term of the loan.

Mr & Mrs Y approached us to make a ppi claim and a mis sold mortgage claim.
